MÉTISSE

A distinctive name chosen as an homage to Philippe's father, this is the name of a river that flows close to his hometown.  This is also why the color blue was selected for the eyes on the label as well as the foil.

The land for this vineyard was purchased in 2001 after searching for many months for a location that would allow us to produce profound terroir based wines.  The elevation at 2500 feet and its steep slopes, create intriguing microclimates with varying sun exposure.  The soils are rich in volcanic ash – ideal for growing Cabernet franc and Chardonnay and clay – for Merlot and Sauvignon blanc.

Our first production from this magnificent site was in 2007 with the Cabernet franc and Merlot blend.  The Sauvignon blanc was planted in 2008 and our first vintage will be released in the fall of 2013. The Chardonnay was planted in 2012 and both of these whites will be unique additions to our portfolio.
